Pumpkins & corn & such
There are some more new photos up at the photo page! We had a wonderful time at the Halloween Harvest Festival despite the extended transit ride there (Red Line to the end (North Hollywood) and then the Orange Line for a good 40 minutes to De Soto) and the dry wind… Luckily the corn maze provided decent protection from the wind if not from feral children who attack innocent, if somewhat effeminate, men trying to navigate the course with their families. Anyway, Sebastian enjoyed his surprise trip yesterday & we ended up with a nice pumpkin that we will soon carve and place somewhere in the apartment for the holiday in lieu of having a front porch. At least it won’t get smashed by some damn-fool kids, right?
City Hall, Oktoberfest & more
There are some more new photos up at the photo site (we’re getting back into the swing of things)! We took a trip to Torrance on Sunday for the “family day” of Oktoberfest at Alpine Village. It’s been a good 6 years since we last went and it is a different experience in the daytime & as parents, but fun nonetheless. Unfortunately Sebastian missed his nap and was a little too tired to fully enjoy the band and dancing, but AM got her fix of Oktoberfest food and I got my fix of extraordinarily large servings of beer, so it really was win-win.
Today AM & Sebastian made another trip to City Hall to check out the observation deck and take a peek in the mayor’s private offices. There are some fabulous shots of Los Angeles – a full 360 degree view from the top of the building. Sebastian once again made a brief speech at a live microphone in one of the rooms but, he told me later, that he “couldn’t talk long because they were getting ready for an event in the medium-sized room.” Maybe next time he can deliver the state of the city address…
