Spiders… beware!

The crowds were much lighter than at the “Pavillion of Wings” exhibit, due both to a USC game at the stadium next door (I imagine, at least, that parking is at a premium around Exposition Park during USC football) and to the inherent “ewwww” factor normally associated with spiders. An interesting factoid, though, is that there are about 40,000 species of spiders in the world and only 28 are considered “potentially dangerous” to humans. Still, I wouldn’t want this crawling on me:
OK. Now I’m itchy all over. Were these frightening arachnids just out in the shrubbery or behind glass? They are certainly cool, even if they are creepy. On your next trip to the museum, will one of you be posing with a spider on the shoulder, a la the butterfly experience?
Super pictures! How did Sebastian like it? I’m sure many youngsters would be freaked out. I suspect his quiet curiosity trumped fear.
That spider gave me goose bumps. That is one creepy looking spider! I am not for killing or harming animals or insects or anything, but I sure wouldn’t be disappointed if all 40,000 species just ceased to exist.
