Xmas break

Well, Sebastian’s break from school has officially begun! The school had a Christmas pagent on Thursday night. Each class performed a song and dance with costumes and all. The kindergarten song was “Mi Burrito Sabanero” and they were all so damn adorable!

I can’t remember any xmas performances that I participated in during school — did we not have them or am I blocking them from my memory for some reason? Anyway, enjoy the pictures and we’ll update again soon!

Hi. Great pictures from the Christmas pagent. I remember the Christmas performances at St Michael’s, but not so much at Annunciation. Sebastian’s singing in his second language (Spanish) and you sang in church Slovanic and sign language. Sebastian is a handsome shepherd. We were able to listen to Mi Burrito Sabanero on line. A very cute song. The translations we found were a little rough but gave us some idea.

Hmmm. I don’t think there were any nativity pageants on a school-wide level; in Barb’s early reign, there were fairly elaborate christmas plays, but often it was each class performing a couple christmas songs either in church or, on a couple occasions, at St. John Social Hall. You don’t remember any of that stuff? Repression, I guess–I don’t remember you looking forward to any of it with great enthusiasm. It was always a big pain for the teachers, unless they were musically inclined, and preparing for a program really cut into teaching time, so I think Christmas programs were fairly low-key at good ol’ ASJ. Then Dad reminded me of St. Michael programs! Damn. I’d forgotten them!

Kudos to the OLL teachers for putting a pageant together–time consuming to say the least. Needless to say, Sebastian makes a great shepherd! Dad found a recording of “Mi Burrito Sabanero” since we’d never heard it. It is so cool that Sebastian is becoming bilingual! Can’t wait to see him!
